As part of a world exhibition tour, The New Zealand show offered a sparring match between the current heavyweight world champion Ali and Ellis, former world champion and longtime Ali traveling partner, as well as one with former Commonwealth Games medalist Lance Revill.  Though seemingly out of shape and boxing the whole time in a full sweatsuit, Ali still mugged and danced for the crowd.  The card for the night also featured bouts between The Muhammed(sic) Ali Amateur Boxing Team and the New Zealand Amateur Boxing Team.
